Former Samford golf standout Ryan Mayberry has joined the Samford athletic staff as assistant coach for the men's and women's golf programs. Mayberry will assist Head Coach Woodie Eubanks in all coaching responsibilities as well as everyday activities and office duties.

"Ryan is a good hire for our program," Eubanks said. "He was a part of the first OVC Championship team for Samford and brings a new aspect to my coaching which I feel will improve the program. Ryan has a good handle on what he does and I look forward to getting this season started."

Mayberry was a member of the Samford men's golf team from 2002 to 2006, and has been competing in golf tournaments since he was 13. As a scholarship player, he letter four years at Samford and played three under the tutelage of Eubanks. In Eubanks' first two years, the Bulldog squad won the program's first conference title and competed in the NCAA Regionals for the first time ever.

After graduating from Samford with a degree in Business Management in August 2006, Mayberry played full-time on the NGA Tour. He played until the spring of 2008, and then decided to take a step back which led him to Samford.

"Woodie and I have always had a good relationship during and since my time as a player at Samford," Mayberry said. I believe our personalities and coaching styles will compliment each other and I am looking forward to coaching with him."
