Grant Lyons enters his third year as a member of the athletics staff and first as Assistant Director of Athletics for Marketing.

Lyons will oversee marketing, game-day operations, campus-wide promotions and ticket sales. Lyons also serves as the administrator for Samford's cheerleading and mascot program. He is the athletics representative for the homecoming committee and the parking committee. Lyons is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA).

Additionally, Lyons is a part-time adjunct instructor in the Department of Exercise Science and Sports Medicine (ESSM), teaching Tennis.

Previously, Lyons worked as an authorized dealer field manager for W.R. Case and Sons Cutlery Company in his hometown of Knoxville, Tenn. He also served as a police officer with the Homewood Police Department in Homewood, AL.

Lyons worked as a game-day marketing assistant at Samford during the 2004 football season. In his role as marketing assistant, Lyons managed the Samford on-line store along with its student employees, and he managed the sponsorship tents during football games.

While a student at Samford, Lyons served as a supervisor and instructor for the intramural athletics program. Lyons also was a member of Samford's men's tennis team.

Lyons, a 2004 Samford graduate, is married to a fellow Samford graduate, and director of game-day operations, Vaughan Boyd Lyons, of Elba, AL. They reside in Homewood.
