Brandon Evans is in his second year as an assistant athletic trainer at Samford University.

Evans serves as the athletic trainer for Samford's men's basketball team. His duties and skills include injury prevention and immediate care, injury assessment and management, injury rehabilitation, as well as practice and game day supervision of the basketball players. He also coordinates any other medical needs of the team, while in communication with the team physicians and other health care specialists.

His secondary responsibilities include caring for the school's men's and women's tennis teams, as well as overseeing the inventory of supplies and equipment in the athletic training room.

Evans came to Samford in February of 2006, after working for Champion Sports Medicine here in Birmingham. In his previous position, Evans served as the athletic trainer for Mountain Brook High School. He also provided rehabilitation services for NFL Europe and other outpatient clients for Champion Sports Medicine.

While in graduate school at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Evans served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer in the Blazers' athletic department. At UAB, Evans worked with the women's basketball, football and track and field teams, before leaving with a master's degree in exercise physiology in 2005.

Evans has been an active member of the National Athletic Trainer's Association since 2000. In addition, he has professional memberships in the Southeastern Athletic Trainer's Association and the Alabama Athletic Trainer's Association.

A native of Kansas City, Mo., Evans graduated from Missouri State University with a bachelor's of science degree in sports medicine and athletic training in 2003.
